The Last ONI Mission

Lee

Standing on the deck, overlooking the ocean beach, feeling the mist and seeing the fog rolling in, he was still.  He heard the beat of the fog horn coming from the lighthouse around the point and it was in time with his heart.  He distracted himself when sipping his wine. The porch light behind him threw a golden glow onto his hand and he stared at the scars crisscrossing his fingers. His mind was shoved into the past and his last ONI mission.  If only ... but nothing could be changed, so he would look toward the future instead.

Chip

While dumping the chopped onions into the skillet to be lightly sauted into a caramelized state in preparation of the onion soup he was making, Chip found his thoughts wandering from corner to corner of his troubled mind.  A small soft hand gently rubbed over his shoulder and made it's way up to his cheek and into his hair.  Her body pressed against his back and he set the skillet off the burner.  Turning, he gathered his new wife into his arms and all thoughts of Lee and his last ONI mission flew away.  He was too distracted now.

Harry

Tossing the stack of papers into the out box on his massive desk, Harry stood up and stretched cramped muscles in his back.  Taking a drink of cold coffee, he grimaced and went to look out his window to the fog far below him.  He couldn't get the picture out of his mind.  Lee Crane was barely alive when they found him and all because of mis-communication within the ONI command.  With a soft curse, he vowed to stop any future missions. Stomping to his phone, he picked it up, and demanded Angie to get him ONI Command Office.
